Leif's Tea began with wild tea leaves and traditional herbs of the Alaskan boreal forest that I gathered and processed by hand (including handmade tea bags from coffee filters) and steeped in a cast-iron kettle on the barrel woodstove that served as the heating and cooking source in my childhood home.
As the scale and complexity of our operation has grown, we remain true to our beginnings. Using small glass fermenters, carefully processing the honey and herbs by hand in a manner consistent with how we have experienced best results.
We trust you will experience the difference.
With this amount of time spent foraging from the wild, processing, steeping, and tasting each of these plants we've developed a relationship with each plant similar to that of a person. Each plant has its own personality (taste and experience), and comes from its own neighborhood (where the plant is found in nature). Importantly, just as people have jobs and professions, each plant has a traditionally recognized benefit.
These plants are our allies, our partners in life. Their integration served these peoples since time immemorial. From this perspective, herbs, herbalism and teas are an extension of nature into humanity. It is all an intricate dance.
